E-Waste Recycling FAQ — Malaysia

Answers to the questions we hear most from Malaysian businesses, procurement teams, and compliance officers.

Compliance & regulations

Yes. Scheduled e-waste is regulated under the Environmental Quality (Scheduled Wastes) Regulations 2005. Any business generating e-waste must engage a DOE-licensed contractor, maintain consignment notes, and retain certificates of disposal for audit.
SW110 is the Malaysian scheduled waste code for electrical and electronic waste under the Environmental Quality (Scheduled Wastes) Regulations 2005. It requires licensed handling, consignment notes, and certificates of disposal for all transfers.
Businesses that dispose of scheduled e-waste through unlicensed channels can face fines under the Environmental Quality Act 1974, stop-work orders, and premises license issues. Under PDPA, unsecured data disposal can also attract additional penalties.
We hold a DOE SW110 scheduled waste license and comply with ISO 14001, ISO 45001, ISO 27001, R2v3, and e-Stewards standards. Certificate copies are available to clients on request.

Accepted items

Laptops, desktops, servers, phones, tablets, printers, monitors, TVs, cables, batteries, air-conditioners, and refrigerators are all classified as e-waste. Items containing lithium batteries or refrigerants require special handling as scheduled waste.
No. Laptops are SW110 scheduled e-waste in Malaysia and must be disposed of through a DOE-licensed contractor. General waste disposal is non-compliant and can result in fines for businesses.
Yes. We handle factory-scale collection, data-centre decommissions, and office clearances. We coordinate with EHS, facilities, and IT teams and can schedule after-hours collections.

Data destruction

We use certified multi-pass data wiping, physical shredding, and witnessed on-site destruction. Each method produces a certificate of destruction suitable for PDPA audits, ISO 27001 evidence, and client assurance.
Yes. Our data destruction process is designed to meet PDPA obligations, with documented chain-of-custody, serial-level reporting, and certificates of destruction.
Yes. On-site witnessed destruction is available for sensitive batches in KL, Selangor, and surrounding areas. Certificate is issued the same day.

Pickup & pricing

Yes. Free pickup applies to qualifying bulk volumes across Kuala Lumpur, Selangor, Cyberjaya, Penang, and Johor Bahru. Minimum volumes vary by location; share your inventory for confirmation.
Working IT equipment may qualify for buyback. We assess based on age, specification, condition, and resale demand. Typical buyback items include laptops under five years old, servers with valid support, and networking equipment.
Remove personal items, sign out of accounts, and place equipment in a secure area. We handle packing, loading, and transport. For data-bearing devices, we recommend a factory reset before pickup but our certified wiping is performed regardless.
